Janet Yellen Becomes Treasury Secretary

by Rob Taylor

Former Federal Reserve chair Janet L. Yellen was sworn in as the 78th Secretary of the Treasury on January 26, 2021. This was a moment for historical reflection, as Yellen is the first woman confirmed to this vital cabinet position.1

At her confirmation hearing before the Senate, Yellen made a point that the nation needed to “act big” to stimulate and revitalize the economy, which is still reeling from the socioeconomic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. This has led to many conversations about the professionals and voices the White House may call upon to help guide the economy into the post-COVID era.1,2

There may be any number of concerns about how the White House opts to “act big” and economic policy changes that may feel like too far or not enough. If you’re feeling concerned and want to talk about how they might affect you and your economic strategy, I’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further.
